Improving Transparency in Algonquin Township

I am optimistic!  While the level of transparency is poor inside Algonquin Township from the Supervisor and Highways Commissioner perspective I am optimistic!  There are basic things we can do to make our local government more open to the people.  Simple things like this.  Here is the highway map of Algonquin Township as provided by the official highway commissioner’s website:

…and here is the reality of the roads that the highway commissioner is responsible for:

Here is the elusive map of all Algonquin Township.

Here is the map of all the Algonquin Township Roads that the highway commissioner is responsible for.

There is a key at the bottom of this map which explains the colors.  Solid red lines are township roads and yellow/red lines are Non-Dedicated Subdivision Roads (NDR or NSR).  This is basic stuff that should be on the official township website… but it is not.  There is a map but none outlining the roads which the township is responsible for.

There are a lot of things we can do to make McHenry County and Algonquin Township a better place to live.  Improving transparency at ALL levels is critical component of good government.  Lets all work together on this to make it happen… and this is why I am so optimistic about the future of our county and our township!
